- Intradermal techniques to diagnose and treat allergies.
Two effective methods for both testing and treatment of allergies are called intradermal techniques. The first, known as “Serial Dilution Endpoint Titration” (SDET), is similar to traditional skin testing and useful in testing inhalants. In this test, however, antigens are diluted serially and injected under the skin one dilution at a time. Depending on the size of the first reaction, either weaker or stronger dilutions are administered until the end point – the weakest dilution that produces a positive skin reaction – is found. The end-point determines an accurate treatment dose for allergy injections.
